YouTube is in the news

YouTube is in the news again but for the silly shenanigans of the likes of a Logan Paul. This time the reason for YouTube being the in headlines is because of the actions of Nasim Aghdam. Nasim Aghdam a woman who I have never heard of before and I am pretty sure you have never heard of either. Aghdam was apparently was a disgruntled Youtuber who had been demonetized recectly. In her anger and frustration, Nasim Aghdam decides to visit YouTuber headquarters and open fire on the premises injuring 4 people shortly before killing herself. Have there been plenty of Youtubers irritated about their demonetized channels and videos? Yes.

But as far as I could tell by the optics no one had made a grand threat of going to the YouTube headquarters and harming anyone. Many YouTubers who were demonetized or saw the decrease in revenue decided to look for other alternatives for income including finding a full-time job or two.  Recently YouTube CEO Susan Wojcicki spoke about the changes to YouTube. 

The few videos that are left up on YouTube by Nasim Aghdam are an incoherent pseudo political analysis about "corrupt Governments" and "Censorship". Many of Aghdam video editing styles are random disheveled images and wild colors. Watching some of Aghdam's videos you may feel as if you are on acid. 

With the already ever-changing rules on YouTube, Net neutrality and recently FOSTA and now to add the Nasim Aghdam shooting spree at YouTube headquarters; content creators seemed to be between a rock and a hard place. Only time will reveal what are the effects of the actions of Nasim Aghdam will have not only on Youtube but the internet in general.
