Especially your people over here at MASS APPEAL. And so we got to talking, one thing led to another and—read this in a Puff Daddy voice--you know we had to do a list, right? The definition of an underrated MC can be rather slippery, so let’s start by dispelling a common misconception. Do not confuse the merely “slept-on” with the underrated. The slept-on rapper is like the tree that falls in a forest when nobody is around to hear it: They are literally off the radar. In such cases, rap critics or the listening public simply need to wake up and smell the coffee. They had some good choices like Rapsody, Black Thought and Big Boi, but the majority of the list have people who shouldn't be on any top 5 list. Not being harsh, because we respect Mass Appeal's opinions, but living out emcees like AZ, Redman, Big Krit and others made the list feel water-downed.
