Jaden Smith Has Found His Sound Now He Has to Develop It Jaded Smith created a decent piece of work with SYRE, with joints like Icon where he infused Cab Colloway vocals and vibe, but was able to modernize it with his own contemporary style. Jaden also had a nice video to Icon that made to song become more realized and showed his own uniqueness as an emcee that has the right moves. Remember rappers that could do more of a one two step like MC Hammer. For the past couple of years, it's been obvious that Jaden is in to Neo Soul, R&B, Hip Hop and House Music. SYRE, was the first complete body of work where Jaden was able to fuse his influences well. Is this the best he has to offer? No, but as a start I think he has something that if he explores more; you never know, he can come out with a classic. The track with him and Raury was enjoyable, 90's vibe all over that joint. The loud House music and Electronic sound was nice, plus Raury has underrated vocals. I would be interested in a full EP with Jaden and Raury, they complete meant each other. With Raury's relaxed vocals and Jaden's smooth rap deliveries. Obviously you can also tell Jaden is influenced by Drake, another vibe you feel on certain tracks but not done abundantly. Overall the album deals with subject matter such as Love, Police Brutality, Insecurity and Spirituality. Overall I'd give this album a 2.5 out of 5.
