Halfway through his verse on “So Appalled,” JAY-Z reflects on his career arc from the vantage point of The Throne, easily the most-hyped rap duo of all time. “I went from the favorite to the most hated/ But would you rather be underpaid or overrated?” There’s no denying the fact that cheese is nice (as Shawn Carter can attest), but whether we’re talking cartoons or hip hop, everybody loves an underdog.
