Being comfortable with Black death porn is something I feel many Black people over look and are more comfortable with than they think. It is what this country has been founded on, Black death. Black death porn has been profitable since the inception of this nation and continues to be very profitable today. It is in our music “kill a nigga”, the news highlights killings of Black suspects and people on social media sites share and re share Black victims of police brutality. Black death porn is everywhere in media. Personally, my tolerance is low at this point in my life for Black death porn. My tolerance is so low that I am even fed up with the causal killings of Black men and women metaphorically in rap lyrics. I am seeing many Black people on social media and in everyday life look defeated from absorbing so much of this sub genre of Black death porn. Images are powerful, very powerful and the reoccurring images the wiring of our brains. The onset of these violent and disturbing images become apart of our repertoire. The fear, the anger and the shock is something that Black people are having to deal with on a daily basis. Of course there is not one rule of measurement across the board when it comes to the effects of violent images on an individual. Depending the mental resilience of a person or aggressive behavior will determine how much a person is effected by violent images. I have notice that my temperament becomes altered to some degree after a series of violent images of police shootings flashes across my phone or laptop. The fact that I am able to tolerate more heart wrenching images of Black men and women dying horribly on camera speaks volumes to what my generation has been accustomed to dealing with. Black death porn has become a social norm and a commodity in society. Trayvon Martin's body was causally flashed across CNN, FOX, NBC and other news outlets and the advertisers for the most part did not even think twice If fact seeing Trayvon's body was great, this meant an uptick in ratings. The ability to market products to a larger than normal audience. Would you like to try the new double beef chicken patty? For black people the experience is different and much more destructive to their psychological make up. Too many times jokes about “You know they always kill the brother first” get tossed around without really thinking about that really means. Accepting a designated fate of Black death is the norm our society. Coupled with a culture of self gratifying Black death porn in corporate watered down rap music is a recipe for untold amount of mental disturbances. As a Black person, to find yourself angry, depressed, lethargic and numb goes deeper than just having a “bad day”. Too many times we wonder through life not fully conscious of the images and sounds we take in from the media. Sure let's say you are not listening to the latest “murder, murder” rap but you are constantly re sharing the latest police shooting involving a Black person or random lynching, that still takes a toll on the soul. I found myself getting angry or being tense in general, but I have digested so many disturbing images over my life time. Especially of Black death porn, I have listened to so many rappers kill other Black people on records that the lost of Black life at times does not seem that big of a deal. We must find away to detox. Pull away from social media, listen to some J. Dilla instrumentals, Miles Davis or Duke Ellington. Embrace your love ones, go outside. We may not be able to control what goes on in this world but we can control how we react. Do not let America get you hooked on Black death porn.
